SYSTEMS ENGINEER

The Systems Engineer plans, develop, design, and manage holistic systems solutions throughout the project lifecycle. They will provide expertise in how to tailor systems engineering techniques and processes to meet project objectives within constraints. They will balance systems thinking and systems engineering best practices, as needed, over the full range of technology maturity levels. They will apply systems engineering expertise to define cost/benefit and risk/opportunity, develop and analyze alternatives, support decisions, and mitigate risks.
Responsibilities
- Train others on defined software and hardware testing, configuration, documentation, and related tasks and procedures.
- Adapt and apply basic systems engineering procedures for assigned tasks and known processes.
- Perform non-routine tasks requiring the exercise of independent judgment.
- Investigate and categorize problems and possible solutions to team leadership. Document observations and ideas in tracking system.
- Define workflows for software and hardware lifecycle management.
- Review, analyze, report, and communicate project and program level risk and opportunity information
- Ensure risk metrics are kept current and support other risk communications
- Analyze Baseline Change Requests supporting the development of the associated risk consideration
- Support proposal development through helping with the identification, characterization, status, and analysis of risk.
Requirements
- Must have an active SECRET (or higher) Security Clearance.
- 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office Products such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, project management, business, or a related discipline and at least 2 years’ experience performing risk management.
- Strong communications skills including the ability to listen and communicate effectively with all levels within the company are required.
- Ability to make presentations and conduct project level and program level risk and opportunity workshops also required.
- Experience in areas such as Risk Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Project Engineering, Systems Engineering and cause-effect analysis.
- Experience with various risk and opportunity analysis techniques.
- Ability to create Crystal Ball risk models in Excel Spreadsheets and other risk analysis software such as GoldSim to develop company level risk and opportunity analysis models.
- Experience with risk database and risk cause and effect software such as Reality Charting.
- Experience with mind mapping software such as MindManager.
